Happy New Year

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to one and all.

2014 is upon us and The Spread has a heaving year ahead. But what about you?

Are you joining the gym? Making a list of resolutions? Got BIG plans for the future? If you’re like most people the answer is a resounding YES.

We all know that January brings forth a fresh start, new beginnings and a clean slate.

So to that end, this issue is dedicated to everything new: First times, beginnings and fresh starts. Read on as Alice recounts her directorial debut. I also retell my first experience at shooting a documentary. Speaking of documentaries, Yolanda explores the bittersweet feelings linked to beginning and finishing her doc. Horatiu investigates the ins and outs of Romania’s Film industry through the eyes of a new production company.

Then Lynn gives us a run-down of this year’s promising movies, highlights and films you simply cannot miss. I chat to the talented filmmaker Ioan Holland on starting his exciting new web series Coloured Snow. Our Stateside writer Marija interviews the eccentric reincarnated star of a new film, and also questions if there is a new future ahead for indie film. Finally keeping in-tune with all things new, we are introducing a fresh supplement: Jammer of the Month, where we celebrate members of Cinema Jam. Adam Dale, photographer, is the inaugural JoM. Check him out.

So, put off hitting the treadmill for a little longer and hunker down to read this month’s issue. Shhhh….We won’t tell.

All the best for the coming year dear readers.
