Asia has brought us filmic delights from chopsocky Martial Arts, breathtaking cinematography, to all-singing and dancing Bollywood dramas. So this issue of The Spread takes a slice out Asia and serves it on a bed of articles and reviews, garnished with the latest in industry news.

Cameron Johnson gives us a mammoth run-down of the master Miyazaki’s top animations. It’s so big that we have brought you part one this month with the exciting conclusion in our September issue. He also reviews Kiki’s Delivery Service one of Japan’s most whimsical and charming exports.

Meanwhile we look at Bollywood’s top five films as told by Juggy Sohal. Vallisa Chauhan; radio presented and filmmaker is interviewed on her latest feature Those 4 Walls. And can Bollywood ever break into the UK mainstream? That is a question Juggy seeks to answer.

This month’s special spotlight focuses on Darkness Descends. I also got the chance to watch and review the film and spoke to its stars; Frank Krueger, Kinga Phillips and Darren Darnborough. Plus co-founder of TriForce Fraser Ayres talks about their latest festival aimed at short films.

We have exclusive coverage over four days from Doc/Fest with our roving reporter Lynn Klein scooping the latest. Lynn also has a batch of awesome interviews in tow: director Kim Longinotto, Nancy Kates, Richard Peppiatt and David Tedeschi.

Yolanda Barker also reports back from the launch of Phundee - quite possibly the future of crowdfunding.

Finally in Reviews we take a look at some of this Summer’s releases; Hercules, Lucy and Boyhood.

Enjoy!
