The satirical comedy web series celebrating queer, feminist and absurdist themes is available to view now.
Cinema Jam member, and Jam Session approved filmmaker, Kate Jessop has recently taken her incredible animating talents to the web to create a truly unique comedy web series called Tales From Pussy Willow. Kate was kind enough to let us screen her wonderful short Little Elephant at our June Jam Session to thunderous applause and we were thrilled to hear about her new project that would also contain Little Elephant’s queer and feminist themes. Using green screen the short sketch series innovatively combines Kate’s distinctive animation style with live-action performances to bring to life some hilarious and thought-provoking scenes.
Over the course of the seven episodes that are currently available the series has tackled, and put a humorous spin on, some common indignities faced by women and members of the LGBT community. From coming out to your parents to awkward workplace ignorance of sexuality Tales From Pussy Willow pulls no punches but also packs quite a lot of laughs. Other episodes have demonstrated Kate’s love of absurdism to deliver a surreally funny take on everyday trials like interviewing for a shared accommodation. All episodes can be found on the series’ YouTube page here and you can find out more and help to share the love on the series’ Facebook page here.
As well as that you can read our interviews with Kate where we talk about her career and get more in-depth about Little Elephant here and more in-depth on Tales From Pussy Willow here. We loved the first series and we’re glad to hear that she has plans for a second.
